District Greenwood, the Amalgamated People, has been in the making for 5 years. The Project was originally supposed to be directed by myself, but over time my father Robert “Hershey” Alston became overly passionate about the subject. At this point, we switch roles. I ended up producing the documentary and handling the cinematography for the project, alongside my colleague Taj Devore-Bey

We have traveled to multiple cities across the country to capture the spirit of what the Greenwood District, in Tulsa, OK 1921 was all about!

After years of research and development, and being independently financed, the film is currently in the film festival circuit. Audiences may be able to view the full film at a festival or via streaming in the near future.
